EMILYs List Statement on North Carolina’s State Election Results

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As races continue to be called in favor of pro-choice Democratic women across North Carolina, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulated nine EMILYs List candidates on their well-deserved victories for the North Carolina General Assembly and local public office. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“For too long, North Carolina’s women and working families have been left behind by a far-right Republican majority in their state legislature that has doggedly sought to roll back their rights. These pro-choice Democratic women have served their communities and aren’t afraid to fight for women and families and ensure that every voice is heard in Raleigh. EMILYs List is proud to have worked with our partners in North Carolina to recruit, train, and support these incredible candidates and we congratulate them on their well-deserved victories tonight.”

EMILYs List congratulates the following candidates on their victories:

Satana Deberry (District Attorney, District 6)
Natasha Marcus (SD-41)
Allison Dahle (HD-11)
Jean Farmer-Butterfield (HD-24)
Julie von Haefen (HD-36)
Sydney Batch (HD-37)
Cynthia Ball (HD-49)
Ashton Clemmons (HD-57)
Carolyn Logan (HD-101)

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Since the 2016 election, thousands of women and counting have reached out to us about running for office. To harness this energy, EMILYs List has launched Run to Win, an unprecedented effort to get more women to run at the local, state, and national levels.
