EMILYs List Expands New York Electoral Push with Endorsements of Adrienne Adams and Attorney General Letitia James

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, is endorsing Adrienne Adams for lieutenant governor, as she runs on a ticket with previously EMILYs List-endorsed Gov. Kathy Hochul, and Attorney General Letitia James for reelection.

Gov. Kathy Hochul is a champion for all New Yorkers. She fought to protect Medicare, defended the Affordable Care Act, and created jobs for veterans. As lieutenant governor, she visited all 62 counties each year to ensure every New Yorker had a voice. In 2021, she made history as the first woman to lead New York and now governs the largest state ever led by a woman. She successfully safeguarded reproductive rights by signing laws protecting abortion providers, expanding access to care, and launching the nation’s first paid prenatal leave policy. EMILYs List proudly endorsed Gov. Kathy Hochul for reelection earlier this cycle.
Former New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams is a fearless leader who has always put the needs of her constituents first. She led the most diverse and the first women-majority council in New York City history as the chamber’s first-ever Black speaker. As city council speaker, she led the council to address racial disparities in maternal health and reproductive care, passed legislation to increase resources for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence, and provided $100K for councilmembers to invest in victim services programs. Now, she is ready to make history again fighting for all New Yorkers in the first all-women ticket for governor and lieutenant governor.
Attorney General Letitia James is a lifelong public servant with decades of experience advocating for New Yorkers. Elected in 2018, she became the first woman of color to hold statewide office in New York and the first woman to be elected attorney general. As attorney general, she has focused on lowering costs for working families, ensuring bad actors that break state laws are held accountable, including Trump and his corrupt MAGA allies, and protecting New Yorkers’ rights and safety. She has secured more than $9 billion from individuals and corporations who have taken advantage of New Yorkers and has consistently led multistate coalitions to challenge unlawful federal actions when they threatened New Yorkers’ civil rights, healthcare access, and the rule of law. She is a champion for her community, and she is ready to continue fighting for New York families as attorney general.
