EMILYs List Demands Transparency, Calls on Georgia Supreme Court Candidates to Commit to Accepting Election Results

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement as Georgia Republican-backed Supreme Court Justice Sarah Warren refuses to commit to accepting the results of the May 19 general election: 

“Justice Sarah Warren’s refusal to commit to accepting the results of the upcoming election is a cynical and dangerous political ploy designed to undermine confidence in Georgia’s Supreme Court race. Georgia voters deserve confidence that the results of this election will be respected not hedged or ignored if a politician dislikes the outcome. Justice Warren must immediately and clearly state that she will honor the results.

“We have seen this anti-democratic playbook before. Last cycle, Republicans in North Carolina attempted to overturn the results of Justice Allison Riggs’ victory after losing at the ballot box. EMILYs List stood with Justice Riggs to help defeat those efforts in North Carolina, and we are prepared to do the same in Georgia if necessary.”
