EMILYs List Endorses Lori Stone for Mayor of Warren, Michigan
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed state Rep. Lori Stone for mayor of Warren, Michigan. Stone joins 16 currently endorsed mayoral candidates as part of EMILYs List’s Madam Mayor program. EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:
“State Rep. Lori Stone has been a force for freedom and democracy in Michigan’s state House, and EMILYs List is proud to endorse her for mayor of Warren because we know she will continue to protect our rights in the mayor’s office. Supporting Democratic pro-choice champions like Stone for local executive leadership is critical, and we are confident that her strong track record of delivering for Michiganders will make her a mayor that the people of Warren can trust.”
State Rep. Lori Stone is serving her third term in the Michigan House of Representatives and was first endorsed by EMILYs List in 2020. Stone is a lifelong resident of Warren and worked as a school teacher for 14 years. She was inspired to run for office after witnessing firsthand the struggles her local school districts faced when obtaining the funding they needed to serve students effectively. In the state House, she has focused on constituent services, accountability, and transparency, and she is committed to bringing those values to Warren’s mayoral office.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
