EMILYs List Endorses Monica Tranel for Montana’s 1st Congressional District

September 27, 2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Monica Tranel for election to Montana’s 1st Congressional District. EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:

“Montana’s 1st Congressional District deserves better than an anti-choice representative who consistently votes with MAGA extremists to take away their rights. Monica Tranel has been serving Montanans for her entire career, and she has what it takes to go up against Ryan Zinke and his radical agenda. Tranel has seen firsthand what Montana’s women, families, and small businesses need to thrive, and EMILYs List is proud to support her candidacy.”

Monica Tranel is a fierce and lifelong advocate for Montanans. She grew up on a ranch in eastern Montana with nine brothers and sisters, and from feeding pigs to stacking hay, she always had a job to do. Tranel attributes the work ethic she learned on the ranch to her success as a world-class athlete who competed in two Olympics and won a world championship gold medal for the United States Women’s Rowing Team. She worked her way through college and law school, and spent her career as a lawyer, working in Montana for Montanans, including small business owners, developers, and ranchers. Tranel has dedicated her career to Montanans, and she is ready to work for Montana values in Congress.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
