EMILYs List Endorses Kyle Evans Gay in Delaware’s 5th Senate District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Kyle Evans Gay in Delaware’s 5th Senate District. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“EMILYs List is proud to endorse Kyle Evans Gay in her bid to flip Delaware’s 5th Senate District from red to blue. From her time with the Office of the Child Advocate to her work with Delaware’s Equal Rights Amendment Now, she has spent her career fighting to ensure that every child, woman, and family has a voice and a fair shot at success. Kyle’s experience and passion make her exactly the kind of leader we need in Dover, where she will be a powerful voice for the people of Senate District 5. We’re excited to stand with Kyle and we look forward to helping elect another pro-choice Democratic woman to the Delaware State Legislature.”

Kyle Evans Gay is a lawyer, community advocate, and nonprofit leader who has spent her career advocating for Delaware’s most vulnerable communities. She has worked at the Delaware Justice Department, clerked for the Superior Court, and supported foster children in need of representation through the Office of the Child Advocate. Kyle is also the president of the Junior League of Wilmington and a board member of the Delaware Bar Foundation where she offers legal aid services, and Spur Impact Association, a nonprofit that encourages young people to get involved in their communities. She is a graduate of Brown University and Boston University School of Law and lives in Heatherbrooke with her husband Olin and their two daughters.

This cycle, EMILYs List has also endorsed Sarah McBride for Delaware's 1st Senate District.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 150 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,100 women to state and local office. Nearly 40 percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. During the historic 2017-2018 cycle, EMILYs List raised a record-breaking $110 million and launched a record independent expenditure campaign. We helped elect 34 new women to the House, including 24 red-to-blue victories; enough seats to have delivered the U.S. House majority alone. Since the 2016 election, more than 55,000 women have reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state, and national offices.
