EMILYs List Endorses Dr. Ala Stanford for Pennsylvania’s 3rd Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Dr. Ala Stanford for Pennsylvania’s 3rd Congressional District. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement: 

“Dr. Ala Stanford is a physician and health care advocate who has delivered real results for Philadelphia families — expanding health care access and fighting for underserved communities. Now she’s running for Congress to take on Trump’s harmful agenda, lower costs, and ensure every Philadelphian has a fair shot. EMILYs List is proud to support her campaign.”

Dr. Ala Stanford was born and raised in North Philly and Germantown, and she has dedicated her career to advancing health equity, expanding access to care, and empowering underrepresented communities. She is the first Black woman pediatric surgeon trained entirely in the U.S. She has consistently worked to close gaps in care. When COVID-19 hit her community, she founded the Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium to deliver critical testing and health care services to underserved neighborhoods in Philadelphia. Under the Biden administration, she served as the regional director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services of the Mid-Atlantic, advocating for families from Philly to West Virginia. Dr. Stanford believes Philadelphians deserve a champion in Congress who will fight back against Trump’s harmful policies, tackle food insecurity, and secure affordable living opportunities.
