EMILYs List Endorses Angie Craig for Reelection in Minnesota’s 2nd Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Angie Craig for reelection in Minnesota’s 2nd Congressional District. EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:
“Rep. Angie Craig’s historic leadership in Congress has yielded results time and again for Minnesotans and all Americans. Craig has fought to make health care affordable, taken on big pharmaceutical companies, and championed the needs of working families just like the one she grew up in. EMILYs List is proud to once again stand by her in her campaign for reelection because we know she has what it takes to keep fighting for our rights in Congress.”
Rep. Angie Craig serves in Congress because the opportunities she was lucky enough to have are disappearing for too many working families. Rep. Craig grew up in a mobile home park, one of three kids raised by a single mom who worked while going to school to earn her college degree. Rep. Craig’s mom taught her that if she worked hard, she could grow up to be anything she wanted to be. Rep. Craig worked two jobs to keep up with the cost of her education, and graduated from a state college. She began her career as a newspaper reporter then worked her way up in business over 15 years to eventually lead a workforce of 16,000 employees for a major Minnesota manufacturer. As a former Fortune 500 company executive, she helped create jobs, empowered women and veterans to advance in their careers, and created workplace policies to promote diversity and inclusion. In 2000, her fight for custody of her adopted son led to a landmark ruling making it possible for other LGBTQ+ couples to adopt. As a leader in the Minnesota business community, Rep. Craig has been a powerful advocate for marriage equality in the state. She is the first openly LGBTQ+ member of Congress from Minnesota and the first openly lesbian mother and grandmother in the history of the United States Congress. Rep. Craig and her wife are proud to have raised their four sons in Minnesota and embrace the state’s values of family, community, and caring for each other.
