WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulated Kim Thomas on her election as mayor of Richmond Heights, OH. Laphonza Butler, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:
 
“EMILYs List is thrilled to congratulate Kim Thomas on her election as mayor of Richmond Heights, Ohio. As mayor, Thomas will prioritize equity and justice and will lead with integrity and accountability. She will help navigate Richmond Heights through a period of change and modernization, focusing on business development and a successful COVID-19 recovery. We are excited to watch all that Kim Thomas will accomplish as mayor of Richmond Heights.”
 
Councilwoman Kim Thomas was elected to her first term on the Richmond Heights City Council in 2019, where she represents Ward 1. A wife, mother, small business owner, and 26-year Richmond Heights resident, Thomas serves on the City Council’s Finance, Audit, Safety, and Planning and Zoning committees. She was the recipient of the Ohio Democratic Party's “Volunteer of the Year Award” in 2016, served as a community engagement consultant for the Ohio Democratic Party during the 2018 midterms, served as the vice chair of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party, and was the legislative chair for the National Congress of Black Women of Greater Cleveland.
