EMILYs List-Endorsed Candidates in Georgia Trounce Republicans, Report Historic Fundraising

WASHINGTON, D.C. – During the second quarter, EMILYs List endorsed-candidates for statewide office in Georgia, Stacey Abrams (GA-GOV), Jen Jordan (GA-AG), and Bee Nguyen (GA-SOS), outpaced and outraised their Republican incumbent opponents. EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:

“Voters are making it clear that they will not stand for these invasive efforts to strike down our freedom. As Gov. Kemp, Attorney General Carr, and other Republicans rush to implement an abortion ban, these candidates are seeing surging support because they  fight for our ability to make decisions for our own bodies, health, and futures. Momentum is behind the Democratic pro-choice women on the frontlines of this fight, and we are thrilled to stand with Abrams, Jordan, and Nguyen as they work to advance reproductive freedom in Georgia.”

• Former state Rep. and Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams reported raising $21 million, while Republican Gov. Brian Kemp reported raising $6.8 million in the last two months. The Abrams campaign reports widespread grassroots support, reporting over 240,000 donors who donated less than $100.
• State Sen. Jen Jordan outraised her incumbent opponent Attorney General Chris Carr this second quarter, bringing in over $818,000. Jordan has raised over $2.1 million to date, more than any challenger candidate for attorney general in Georgia’s history.
• In the Georgia secretary of state race, state Rep. Bee Nguyen reported bringing in $874,000, outraising incumbent Brad Raffensperger who reported $305,000 in the same time period.
