EMILYs List Women Deliver A Democratic Trifecta in Arizona, Breaking Republicans’ 60-Year Grip on the Legislature
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – EMILYs List women have delivered Democrats’ first trifecta in Arizona since 1966, breaking Republicans’ 60-year grip on the state legislature after winning competitive races up and down the ballot. Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs won her reelection campaign, while EMILYs List candidates flipped enough seats to take Democratic control of both chambers of the state legislature.
EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“Democrats have secured a generational victory in Arizona, thanks to Governor Katie Hobbs and EMILYs List women statewide. Until now, Republicans have wielded their slim majorities in the legislature to block progress in Arizona – and EMILYs List women flipped those seats by offering a real alternative to their chaos and cruelty. Now, with governing power delivered by women, Democrats can drive real change that will make everyday life better for Arizonans all across the state.”
