EMILYs List Women Deliver A Democratic Trifecta in Michigan, Taking Back Governing Power

November 4, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. – EMILYs List women have delivered a Democratic trifecta in Michigan, winning competitive races up and down the ballot to once again establish governing power for the party. Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson won her race for Michigan governor, with Winnie Brinks serving as lieutenant governor, while EMILYs List candidates held onto Democrats’ state Senate majority and spearheaded the charge to flip control of the state House.

EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“Entering this cycle, there were no higher stakes than in Michigan. Today, Gov.-elect Jocelyn Benson and EMILYs List women statewide have delivered a Democratic trifecta. These women spearheaded the charge to build real governing power across the state — winning the governorship, downballot executive offices, and seats to secure Democratic majorities in the legislature and on the state Supreme Court. Their decisive victories prove once again that women candidates are our best strategy to winning the most important races on the map.”
