EMILYs List Endorses in Rhode Island, Delaware, and Vermont Attorneys General Races
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, is endorsing Attorneys General Kathy Jennings of Delaware and Charity Clark of Vermont for reelection and Kim Ahern for election as Rhode Island attorney general. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“EMILYs List is proud to endorse Kim Ahern, Kathy Jennings, and Charity Clark in their respective races for attorney general. All three leaders are committed to fighting back against Trump and his cruel policies and holding powerful interests accountable. We’re excited to support these bold women as they build winning campaigns across their states.”
Kim Ahern has served at the highest levels of Rhode Island state government. A special assistant attorney general under three Rhode Island attorneys general, Kim fought to uphold the law and protect Rhode Islanders, prosecuting over 1,000 cases in what is now known as the Special Victims Unit. She served as the attorney general’s representative on the Rhode Island Commission on Prejudice and Bias and worked closely with the office’s civil division. Now, she is ready to fight for Rhode Island and use her experience to keep Rhode Islanders safe.
Kathy Jennings has dedicated her life to making the justice system work better for the people of Delaware. As attorney general, she has helped protect children by holding child predators accountable, fought to protect voting rights, held opioid manufacturers accountable for the devastation they have brought to Delaware, and successfully cracked down on corruption. Kathy is committed to making Delaware a safer place to live, work, and to raise a family all while also making Delaware a place where justice is fair and equal for all.
Charity Clark is a lawyer, mother, volunteer, proud Vermonter, and the first woman elected attorney general of Vermont. As attorney general, she has protected Vermont from federal overreach by suing the Trump administration for violating the U.S. Constitution or federal law 50 times. She is a staunch supporter of reproductive freedom — suing the FDA to make access to medication abortion more accessible and defending a lawsuit against Vermont over a law requiring crisis pregnancy centers to be truthful. Charity has a deep commitment to the state that raised her and she is ready to continue fighting for all Vermonters.
This cycle, EMILYs List has endorsed six bold women for state attorney general: Kris Mayes (AZ), Jena Griswold (CO), Tanya Miller (GA), Andrea Campbell (MA), Nicole Cannizzaro (NV), and Letitia James (NY).
