WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, is endorsing Rep. Kathy Castor for reelection to Florida’s 14th Congressional District. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

Kathy Castor is a native Floridian and lifelong public servant who has dedicated herself to building a stronger economy, expanding opportunity for families, and protecting the environment and quality of life that make Florida special. Before serving in the U.S. Congress, Kathy worked as an environmental attorney and served as a Hillsborough County commissioner, where she earned a reputation for standing up for working families and protecting Florida’s natural resources. In 2006, Kathy became the first woman to represent both Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties in the Congress. She has become a leading voice on affordable healthcare, clean energy, and economic opportunity. Kathy helped draft the Affordable Care Act and has fought to protect healthcare coverage for families and people with preexisting conditions. She has also been a champion for Tampa Bay’s economy. She believes leadership is about finding solutions, bringing people together, and delivering real results for the communities she serves. Kathy has always put Tampa Bay families first, and she is ready to continue her great work in Congress.
