SOUND THE ALARM: Anna Paulina Luna Defends Republican Campaign Donor Amid Domestic Abuse Allegations

This weekend POLITICO reported on horrifying domestic abuse allegations against Ohio Republican U.S. Rep. Max Miller, accusing him of pouring hot water on his ex-wife, holding a gun to her head, and breaking their young daughter’s collarbone. His ex-wife also filed a restraining order against him, accusing him of harassing her counsel.

In response, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (FL-13) jumped to his defense and yet again prioritized an opportunity to get in national news over the needs of Floridians: “I do not know Max to be a violent person and have only ever found him to be incredibly kind and honorable.”

OF NOTE: Rep. Miller actively fundraises with Anna Paulina Luna and has contributed thousands to her campaign through his leadership PAC. Instead of calling for an investigation and for the facts to be brought to light after a repeated pattern of abuse and violence in Congress, Luna chose to defend her donor.

“Anna Paulina Luna has made it clear she’s looking out for one person: herself. At a moment when voters are demanding leaders they can trust to take on corruption and end the culture of harassment and abuse in Congress, Luna continues to put her own political ambitions first,” said Yari Aquino, senior director of communications at EMILYs List. “It’s time to replace self-interested-Luna with a true fighter like Leela Gray, who has spent her career putting service over self and standing up for survivors while serving in the U.S. military.”

“In the US military, I’ve protected survivors of domestic abuse and held people accountable for misconduct – and it’s unthinkable that the members of the US House of Representatives are held to a lower standard of professional conduct,” said retired Brigadier General Leela Gray. “Luna’s made her position clear – if you’re her friend, a campaign donor, or Jeffrey Epstein, the law doesn’t apply to you. Luna’s words are offensive to survivors of abuse everywhere – and she should immediately apologize to Rep. Miller’s wife and family.”
