Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mackenzie, and Robert Bresnahan Can’t Outrun Their Records Harming Pennsylvanians’ Health Care

Today, U.S. House Republicans Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01), Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07), and Robert Bresnahan (PA-08) flipped to vote with Democrats on the Affordable Care Act extension — not because they care about Pennsylvanians’ health care, but because they knows how politically toxic their party’s crusade to eliminate health care will be in midterm elections. Nearly half of voters across the board call an elected official voting to cut Medicaid a major dealbreaker in 2026.

Let’s be clear: Fitzpatrick, Mackenzie, and Bresnahan each have their own record of harming Pennsylvanians and their health care, and they’re using this vote as an attempt to distract voters from it.

Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick:

  • Voted to take health care insurance away from over 16,000 of his constituents and put five rural hospitals in Pennsylvania at immediate risk of closing by supporting the largest cuts to Medicaid in American history.
  • Voted for a bill that saves insurance companies money by making workers pay more for their health care coverage, and undermines protections for people with preexisting health conditions.
  • Voted to undermine fair drug pricing and affordable health care, drive up the costs of federal health programs like Medicaid and Medicare, and cut funding for preventative health care.

Rep. Ryan Mackenzie:

  • Voted for the 2025 budget bill that allowed Affordable Care Act tax credits to expire, skyrocketing Americans’ monthly health care premiums by 114% on average.
  • Voted to take health care insurance away from over 24,000 of his constituents by supporting the largest cuts to Medicaid in American history.
  • Voted for a bill that saves insurance companies money by making workers pay more for their health care coverage, and undermines protections for people with preexisting health conditions.
  • Called the Affordable Care Act “an infringement upon our rights”, opposed creating a state health care plan under the Affordable Care Act, and opposed expanding Medicaid as a state legislator.

Rep. Robert Bresnahan:

  • Voted for the 2025 budget bill that allowed Affordable Care Act tax credits to expire, skyrocketing Americans’ monthly health care premiums by 114% on average.
  • Voted to take health care insurance away from over 26,000 of his constituents by supporting the largest cuts to Medicaid in American history – after promising those same constituents that he wouldn’t.
  • Voted for a bill that saves insurance companies money by making workers pay more for their health care coverage, and undermines protections for people with preexisting health conditions.
  • Opposes health care reforms that lower prescription drug costs, cap the price of insulin, and protect Pennsylvanians’ health care coverage.
