Women Vote Releases New Ad in Alaska Congressional Race Highlighting Nick Begich’s Support of National Abortion Ban
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List’s Women Vote announced an independent expenditure for Alaska’s Congressional race in support of Rep. Mary Peltola, highlighting anti-abortion radical Nick Begich’s support for a national abortion ban. EMILYs List’s Women Vote will air the TV ad titled, “Measure” in Juneau on broadcast and cable TV.
Jessica Mackler, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement on the ad buy:
“Nick Begich supports a national abortion ban with no exceptions. Begich is a direct threat to Alaskans freedom and will put women in danger if elected. Rep. Peltola has fought tirelessly to protect reproductive freedom and Alaska voters are ready to send her back to Washington to continue this work in Congress.”

Dr. Montano: Doctors know the meaning of “taking extreme measures.”
But ‘extreme’ means something different to Nick Begich.
Because Begich supports a nationwide abortion ban.
And would let politicians ban abortion with no exceptions for rape or incest – not even to save a woman’s life.
That could put Alaskan women facing life-or-death emergencies in danger.
And could mean doctors get sent to jail.
It’s true. It’s truly extreme.
And it’s why Alaska cannot send Nick Begich to Congress.
Women Vote is EMILYs List’s independent expenditure arm which works to educate and mobilize women voters on behalf of pro-choice Democratic women candidates and help turn out voters for Democrats up and down the ballot. Launched in 1995, the EMILYs List Women Vote project combines polling and research, sophisticated message testing, the latest innovations in data and technology as well as good old-fashioned voter contact to educate and mobilize millions of women voters across the country.EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
