Women Vote and BlackPAC Announce Joint Six-Figure Program in Virginia’s 2nd and 7th Congressional District Races

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Women Vote, the independent expenditure arm of EMILYs List, and BlackPAC announced a joint six-figure program in Virginia’s 2nd and 7th Congressional District races. “Simple,” in Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District, and “No More Lies,” in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, will air on Black radio until Election Day.

“In addition to fighting for fair representation of Black women in Congress, Women Vote and BlackPAC are committed to empowering Black voters to reelect Congresswomen Elaine Luria and Abigail Spanberger,” said Melissa Williams, vice president of independent expenditures at EMILYs List. “Virginians know that Republicans are coming for their health care, civil rights, and reproductive rights. The difference between candidates could not be any clearer: while Scott Taylor and Nick Freitas have been busy getting former campaign staffers indicted for election fraud and lying on state and federal disclosure forms, Elaine and Abigail have been advocating for their districts in Congress. Voters know they can trust Elaine and Abigail, and with so much at stake in this election, we are committed to ensuring their voices are heard at the ballot box.”

“The stakes are incredibly high in this election and Black voters are focused on the issues that are defining their lives in this moment and the leaders who have demonstrated a commitment to those issues,” said Adrianne Shropshire, executive director of BlackPAC. “Abigail Spanberger and Elaine Luria have been strong advocates for the issues most important to Black communities – covid-19 relief, healthcare, the economy, and racial justice. Virginia and our country need strong, competent, moral leadership right now, not carbon copies of a lying, corrupt president.  Abigail and Elaine, will continue to be leaders who put people and our communities first.
