New Women Vote Ad Highlights John Morganelli's Support of Donald Trump
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List’s voter mobilization and education project, Women Vote, launched a six-figure television ad buy highlighting the record of John Morganelli, candidate for Pennsylvania's 7th U.S. House District. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:
“If the daily chaos in Washington proves anything, it's that our country desperately needs members of Congress who will stand up to Donald Trump and the GOP. John Morganelli is not that person, and it's critical that voters understand just how out of step he is with the values of Pennsylvania's 7th District. Morganelli is an anti-choice Trump supporter who has no business serving in Congress, and we're going to keep fighting to stop him from getting there.”
“EMILY's List is proud to stand with Susan Wild, who is also running for Congress in the 7th. Unlike Morganelli, Susan is proudly pro-choice and will fight for the people of her community. For voters, the choice is clear.”
You can watch the full ad here. The script is as follows:
“You know John Morganelli as district attorney…
But in Congress, the job's being tough on Trump.
And on the issues that matter to the Lehigh Valley, Morganelli agrees with Trump.
Morganelli opposes a woman's right to choose…
Took thousands from an organization tied to an anti-immigrant hate group.
Morganelli even suggested he hoped to serve in Trump's administration.
If Morganelli won't stand up to Trump, he can't represent us.”
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Since the 2016 election, thousands of women and counting have reached out to us about running for office. To harness this energy, EMILYs List has launched Run to Win, an unprecedented effort to get more women to run at the local, state, and national levels.
Women Vote is EMILYs List’s independent expenditure arm which works to educate and mobilize women voters on behalf of pro-choice Democratic women candidates, and help turnout voters for Democrats up and down the ballot. Launched in 1995, the EMILY's List Women Vote project combines polling and research, sophisticated message testing, the latest innovations in data and technology as well as good old-fashioned voter contact to mobilize millions of women voters across the country.
