LCV Victory Fund and EMILYs List Launch $800k Mail Program in Wisconsin Senate Race
Washington, D.C.– Ahead of tonight’s debate between Senator Tammy Baldwin and Eric Hovde, LCV Victory Fund and EMILYs List announced a new $800,000 mail program in support of Tammy Baldwin and Kamala Harris. The three-piece mail program will hit mailboxes during the final stretch of this election.
The campaign elevates how Trump and Hovde would support a national abortion ban that overrides abortion protections. Meanwhile, Tammy Baldwin and Kamala Harris are fighting to protect our freedoms, including the right to abortion and access to birth control. The three mail pieces are available here, here and here.
“Wisconsin women should know that Sen. Baldwin and Vice President Harris have always had our backs,” said Melissa Williams, Executive Director of EMILYs List’s independent expenditure arm Women Vote. “As Hovde and Trump celebrate the gutting of our rights and abortion bans sweep across the country, Sen. Baldwin and Vice President Harris will work together to restore our rights.”
“Whether it’s abortion rights or access to clean air and water, we know that Tammy Baldwin will fight for our personal freedoms while Eric Hovde and the MAGA Republicans and special interests backing him will fight to take them away, said Megan Jacobs, Vice President of Paid Communications and Elections at LCV Victory Fund. “We’re making sure voters know that Hovde will support Trump at every turn, including his efforts to take away our rights.”
This persuasion mail program builds on Women Vote’s three month digital campaign advertising to young women about Trump and Harris’ positions on abortion and a $2.6 million television expenditure in the U.S. Senate race featuring health care providers in Wisconsin discussing the stakes of electing Eric Hovde. The Women Vote programs highlight that Eric Hovde and Donald Trump have told the women of Wisconsin who they are: Hovde is “totally opposed to abortion,” and Trump was “proud” to have “kill[ed] Roe v. Wade.”
This campaign builds upon LCV Victory Fund’s $3.3 million field program to engage voters on Tammy Baldwin’s commitment to defend the Great Lakes and Wisconsin’s clean water, build a clean energy economy, and hold polluters accountable. In contrast, Eric Hovde earned a spot on this year’s Dirty Dozen list for not only being backed by billionaire oil barons, but also continuously denouncing Biden’s clean energy tax credits, which are expected to add billions to Wisconsin’s economy while reducing energy costs for Wisconsin families.
Women Vote is EMILYs List’s independent expenditure arm which works to educate and mobilize women voters on behalf of pro-choice Democratic women candidates and help turn out voters for Democrats up and down the ballot. Launched in 1995, the EMILYs List Women Vote project combines polling and research, sophisticated message testing, the latest innovations in data and technology as well as good old-fashioned voter contact to educate and mobilize millions of women voters across the country.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
