@HillaryClinton: Today, @emilyslist announced that 15,000+ women have reached out since Election Day about running for office! 7,000+ want to help them run.
@HillaryClinton: Their determination & passion is truly inspiring. And I can't wait to see what this new generation of women leaders accomplishes. Onward!
“We are thrilled that Hillary Clinton has joined with EMILYs List to lift up the thousands upon thousands of women who will be the pipeline of leaders for generations,” said Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List. “EMILYs List is proud to have supported Hillary throughout her career: from her 2000 Senate race to her historic, boundary-breaking 2016 candidacy and popular vote victory. Now, more than ever, women’s leadership is critical. Together, we are going to work to elect a wave of women candidates in 2017, 2018, and cycles to come.”
EMILY's List's largest-ever national recruitment program, Run to Win, is focused on training, recruiting, and identifying opportunities for pro-choice Democratic women to run and win in state and local offices across the country. The campaign will train, politically advise and assess candidates from school board to Senate. EMILY's List will not only help countless Democratic women run for office – they will help them win.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Since the 2016 election, thousands of women and counting have reached out to us about running for office. To harness this energy, EMILYs List has launched Run to Win, an unprecedented effort to get more women to run at the local, state, and national levels.
