EMILYs List Endorses Rachel Reddick for Congress in Pennsylvania's 1st District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Rachel Reddick for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“Rachel Reddick has made service – to her country and to her community – a central part of her life and career. Whether as an advocate for domestic violence survivors or as a Judge Advocate General for the U.S. Navy, Rachel has upheld the highest standards of integrity, and worked to improve the lives of others. She will do the same in Congress.

“Unlike Brian Fitzpatrick, Rachel believes in expanding access to affordable health care, supporting small businesses, and creating good-paying jobs. Pennsylvania's 1st District deserves better than a representative who has repeatedly voted to end health insurance access for millions of Americans and grant big tax giveaways to corporations while raising taxes on the middle class. Rachel is the fighter that families in her community need, and EMILY's List is proud to endorse her.”

Rachel Reddick grew up in a family with a strong commitment to serving our country and the Bucks County community, and her work as an advocate for women who have survived domestic abuse led her to earn her law degree and continue fighting for justice. Inspired by her grandfather and her father's service, Rachel became a Judge Advocate General in the United States Navy. She served on active duty as a military prosecutor, advisor to military commanders, and representative for service members for six years, and was appointed as a special United States attorney and prosecuted for the Navy in federal court. Rachel and her husband met while serving as federal prosecutors in the Navy, and they are proud to be raising their son just a few miles from where Rachel grew up. She continues to serve as an officer in the naval reserves, and is stepping up to run for office for the first time to continue her outstanding career of leadership and service as a champion for Pennsylvania working families in Congress.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Since the 2016 election, thousands of women and counting have reached out to us about running for office. To harness this energy, EMILYs List has launched Run to Win, an unprecedented effort to get more women to run at the local, state, and national levels.
