EMILYs List Endorses Annette Taddeo for Congress

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Annette Taddeo for election to represent Florida’s 27th Congressional District. EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:

“State Sen. Annette Taddeo is a determined legislator with a clear and consistent history of fighting for the rights of the people of Florida. She has spent her time in the Florida state Senate advocating for a living wage for all Floridians, thriving small businesses, safe schools, and the right to reproductive health care. Taddeo is the right choice for Florida’s 27th Congressional District, and EMILYs List is proud to support her campaign.”

Annette Taddeo is a proven leader with the experience and values to advance equity and justice across Florida. As a state senator, business owner, and a working mom, she’s running for Congress to build a brighter future for Florida’s women and working families. Taddeo grew up in Colombia. When she was 17, she was forced to flee her home in Colombia where a Marxist terrorist group, funded by the Cuban regime, kidnapped her father. After living and working her way through college waiting tables in Alabama, Taddeo moved to Miami in the wake of Hurricane Andrew to help her parents rebuild. South Florida has been Taddeo’s home ever since. She ran for the state Senate and won in 2017, flipping the seat blue and becoming the first Democratic Latina elected to the state Senate. “But it’s not just about making history. It’s about making a difference for others to achieve the American dream,” she has said. “That’s why I’ve decided to take my fight to the halls of Congress.” She lives in Miami with her husband, Dr. Eric Goldstein, and daughter, Sofia.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $700 million to elect Democratic pro-choice women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running nearly $50 million in independent expenditures in the last cycle alone, and turning out women voters and voters of color to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country's first woman as vice president, 159 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and more than 1,300 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. After the 2016 election, more than 60,000 women reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state, and national offices. In our effort to elect more women in offices across the country, we have created our Run to Win program, expanded our training program, including a Training Center online, and trained thousands of women.
