EMILYs List Statement on U.S. House Republicans Sending Budget Bill to Trump’s Desk, Betraying Millions of Americans

July 3, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. House Republicans passed Trump’s devastating budget bill that makes life less affordable for working Americans, while handing tax cuts to big corporations and the ultra-wealthy. The bill, which now heads to Donald Trump’s desk for signature, could eliminate health insurance for up to 20 million Americans, cuts critical social services like food assistance programs, and harshly restricts abortion access by targeting Planned Parenthood and other entities that provide care.

EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement in response:

Republicans just threw working Americans to the wolves in order to please Donald Trump and the ultra-wealthy. Republicans are ripping away health care from millions, forcing rural hospitals to close, driving up everyday costs, and further endangering women’s lives by rolling back access to critical reproductive health care. All to give already-wealthy billionaires a trillion dollars in tax cuts.

“This is a disgusting betrayal of the American people — and these Republicans should be gearing up to say goodbye to their seats in 2026.”
