EMILYs List Statement on Nevada's Legislative Primary Election Results

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulated three women on winning their primary elections for the Nevada Legislature. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“EMILY's List is thrilled to congratulate these three women leaders on advancing to November's general election. With these progressive champions in the Legislature, along with EMILYs List’s other endorsed candidates, voters can trust that Nevada will continue to lead the nation in advancing policies that support the most vulnerable communities and lift up all families. As the first state in the country to elect a woman-majority legislature, Nevada remains an example of the incredible progress and action that is possible when women have equal representation in government. We were proud to stand with these extraordinary candidates in the primary and look forward to helping all our women win in November.”

EMILYs List congratulates the following women leaders as they advance to the general election:
Liz Becker (SD-18)
Rochelle Nguyen (AD-10)
Elaine Marzola (AD-21)

EMILYs List has also endorsed 12 additional women for election to the Legislature who did not have primary opponents in the June 9 election: Kristee Watson (SD-05), Nicole Cannizzaro (SD-06), Dallas Harris (SD-11), Wendy Jauregui Jackins (SD-15), Connie Munk (AD-04), Brittney Miller (AD-05), Bea Duran (AD-11), Clara Thomas (AD-17), Lesley Cohen (AD-29), Michelle Gorelow (AD-35), Shea Backus (AD-37), and Sandra Jauregui (AD-41).

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 150 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,100 women to state and local office. Nearly 40 percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. During the historic 2017-2018 cycle, EMILYs List raised a record-breaking $110 million and launched a record independent expenditure campaign. We helped elect 34 new women to the House, including 24 red-to-blue victories; enough seats to have delivered the U.S. House majority alone. Since the 2016 election, more than 50,000 women have reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state, and national offices.
