WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, released the following statement congratulating their Washington State candidates on their election wins: Manka Dhingra, Rebecca Saldaña, Patty Kuderer, Vandana Slatter, Lorena González, and Teresa Mosqueda.

“The people of Washington State have elected a remarkable group of strong, diverse, and progressive women into office,” said EMILYs List President Stephanie Schriock. “The EMILYs List community is proud to stand with these leaders as they fight for progressive policies and advocate for women and families in the state legislature. With issues like access to health care for women, environmental protection, and the passage of a state budget on the line, we need their voices now more than ever.”

EMILY's List congratulates all of the pro-choice Democratic women candidates in their victories across Washington State yesterday, representing a strong mandate for Democratic leadership at all levels of office. Among EMILY's List endorsed candidates, Manka Dhingra was elected to represent Senate District 45, Rebecca Saldaña was elected to continue representing Senate District 37, Patty Kuderer was elected to continue representing Senate District 48, Vandana Slatter was elected to continue representing House District 48, and Teresa Mosqueda and Lorena González won their respective races for Seattle City Council positions. Michelle Ryland’s race for Senate District 31 has yet to be called.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Since the 2016 election, thousands of women and counting have reached out to us about running for office. To harness this energy, EMILYs List has launched Run to Win, an unprecedented effort to get more women to run at the local, state, and national levels.
