EMILY’S List Endorses Two Candidates for Statewide Office in Massachusetts

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed former Boston City Council President Andrea Campbell for attorney general and state Sen. Diana DiZoglio for state auditor of Massachusetts. EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:

“EMILYs List is thrilled to endorse former Boston City Council President Andrea Campbell and state Sen. Diana DiZoglio for election to statewide office in Massachusetts. These pro-choice champions are committed to defending reproductive rights in Massachusetts amid a nation-wide attack on our constitutional rights. Campbell and DiZoglio are proven, battle-tested fighters for their communities, and if elected to statewide office, will advance justice, equity, and opportunity across the state. We are eager to place the full support of the EMILYs List community behind these two distinguished leaders.”

Former Boston City Council President Andrea Campbell is a dedicated fighter for equity and opportunity. Campbell persevered through tremendous challenges earlier in life, finding strength in her loving relatives, her community, and teachers who encouraged her, and later finding purpose by practicing law and through public service. She successfully ran for the Boston City Council in 2015, and was the first Black woman to become president after being unanimously elected in 2018. Campbell is running for Massachusetts attorney general to advance justice and advocate for progress across the state.

State Sen. Diana DiZoglio is both a lifelong Massachusetts resident and a proven champion for the people of the state. Before serving as a state representative, DiZoglio worked in local nonprofits and community organizations, as an aide in the state legislature, and as the chief of staff of the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts. She served three terms as state representative, after which she was elected to the state Senate. DiZoglio is running for state auditor to ensure that every person in Massachusetts, regardless of their background, bank balance, or zip code, is heard in Beacon Hill.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $700 million to elect Democratic pro-choice women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running nearly $50 million in independent expenditures in the last cycle alone, and turning out women voters and voters of color to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country's first woman as vice president, 159 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and more than 1,300 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. After the 2016 election, more than 60,000 women reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state, and national offices. In our effort to elect more women in offices across the country, we have created our Run to Win program, expanded our training program, including a Training Center online, and trained thousands of women.
