EMILYs List Endorses Rep. Julie Johnson in Texas’ 33rd Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Julie Johnson for reelection in Texas’ 33rd Congressional District Democratic primary. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“Texans know Julie Johnson has been with them through the tough fights – showing up, listening, and fighting to make change. When Texas Republicans disenfranchised communities for their own political gain, Julie refused to abandon North Texas. We need to re-elect Julie Johnson – a fierce advocate who is fighting to lower costs, make health care more affordable, and protect reproductive rights. We’re proud to endorse Julie and are going to send her back to Congress to represent Texas’ 33rd Congressional District.”

Julie Johnson, a trailblazing attorney and lawmaker, made history as one of the first openly gay elected officials from Dallas County when she won her Texas House seat in 2018 and again in 2024, when she became the first LGBTQ+ person elected to Congress from the South with EMILYs List’s support. At the urging of Donald Trump, Texas Republicans drew her out of the congressional district she currently represents. Now running for Congress in Texas’ 33rd Congressional District, Rep. Johnson is committed to protecting democracy, lowering costs for families, and standing up to the extremism threatening Texans’ freedoms.
