EMILY’s LIST ENDORSES NINE MORE CANDIDATES FOR ELECTION IN TEXAS

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed nine more women for election in Texas. EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:

“Texans have been living in a post-Roe reality for over a year now, denied autonomy over their health, bodies, and futures by the radical anti-choice politicians who purportedly represent them. We are thrilled to stand with the Democratic pro-choice women on the frontlines of the fight for our fundamental freedoms, and we know that these pro-choice champions will fight tenaciously to restore abortion access in the state. EMILYs List is proud to support their efforts to advance equity and justice in the Lone Star State, and excited for the better future they are working towards for all Texans.”

EMILYs List is proud to endorse the following slate of candidates in Texas:

  • Celia Israel (Austin Mayor)
  • Deborah Peoples (Tarrant County Judge)
  • Vikki Goodwin (TX-HD47)
  • Mihaela Plesa (TX-HD70)
  • Elizabeth Ginsberg (TX-HD108)
  • Elva Curl (TX-HD112)
  • Julie Johnson (TX-HD115)
  • Becca Moyer DeFelice (TX-HD121)
  • Ann Johnson (TX-HD134)

These endorsements are in addition to the previously endorsed EMILYs List legislative candidates headed to the general election in Texas:  Rep. Erin Zwiener (HD-45), Maria Luisa “Lulu” Flores (HD-51), Rep. Mary Gonzalez (HD-75), Rep. Rhetta Andrews Bowers (HD-113), and Rep. Alma Allen (HD-131).

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised over $700 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure campaigns for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country's first woman as vice president, 159 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,400 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
