EMILYs List Endorses Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell for Reelection
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell for reelection. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“Andrea Campbell is a bold, fearless champion who has led with compassion as attorney general to use the power of law to make life better for the people she serves. Andrea has connected her deeply personal story to her mission in public service to build a Commonwealth that works for everyone, which is why she’s fighting to make Massachusetts more affordable, protect consumers from junk fees, and prioritize Massachusetts kids and their well-being. Andrea has what it takes to stand up against the chaos coming out of Washington and hold Trump accountable. We are honored to endorse her for reelection.”
Attorney General Andrea Campbell’s story is one of resilience, faith, and the power of opportunity. Growing up her family was poor and relied on public housing and food assistance. Through determination and support from her community she became the first in her family to go to college and law school, graduating from Princeton University and UCLA Law School. In 2016, she defeated a long-time incumbent, becoming the first woman to represent District 4 on the Boston City Council and went on to become the first Black woman ever elected president of the Boston City Council. In 2022, Andrea made history again when she was elected attorney general of Massachusetts, becoming the first woman of color elected to statewide office. As attorney general she’s taking on the biggest challenges facing Massachusetts families — making life more affordable by putting money directly back into people’s pockets, defending against Trump-era rollbacks that threaten fundamental rights, and expanding opportunity for every child.
