EMILYs List Endorses Lisa Brown for Congress in Washington State's 5th District
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today EMILYs List, the nation's largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Lisa Brown for Congress in Washington State's 5th Congressional District. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:
“Lisa Brown is a progressive champion who will focus on getting results for hardworking Washington State families. As a former educator, the chancellor of Washington State University Spokane and the state's first Democratic woman senate majority leader, Lisa has fought for expanding health care and strengthening public education, including increasing coverage for mental health services, establishing a second public medical school, and securing funding for Washington's public schools.”
“Lisa knows the stakes that families face, and eastern Washington would benefit from her leadership and proven track record of delivering results. EMILY's List is proud to endorse her run for Congress.”
Lisa is challenging vulnerable Republican incumbent Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, an extremist who has worked to advance her party’s dangerous agenda that hurts the working families she was elected to serve. Lisa’s strong grassroots campaign has quickly gained momentum, and this race is a must-win opportunity to flip a seat as we fight to take back the House.
