EMILYs List Endorses Lillian Salerno for Congress in Texas' 32nd District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Lillian Salerno for Congress in Texas' 32nd Congressional District. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“Lillian has spent her career standing up to powerful special interests that stack the deck against Dallas and North Texas small business owners and hardworking families. Lillian waited tables at night while she started her first company helping Texans, particularly working mothers, find jobs. After starting a small business that helped to prevent HIV transmission and facing opposition from large corporate interests, Lillian became an advocate for increased competition in the health care market and has fought on behalf of patients and small businesses. And as deputy undersecretary for rural development at the Department of Agriculture, Lillian pushed for affordable housing, safe drinking water, and high-speed broadband access for rural America.”

“Unlike House Republican Pete Sessions, who voted to rip health care away from millions of people and pay for corporate tax cuts on the backs of middle-class families, Lillian never backs down from fighting for North Texas families. Lillian is taking on vulnerable incumbent Congressman Pete Sessions, an extremist whose top priority is advancing the GOP’s dangerous agenda that hurts the working families he was elected to serve. Now in his 11th term in Congress, Sessions is out of touch with the hardworking Texas families he is supposed to represent. Hillary Clinton narrowly outperformed Donald Trump in Texas’ 32nd District in 2016, and the path to taking back the House runs right through districts just like this one.
