EMILY's List Endorses Kathy Jennings for Delaware Attorney General

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Kathy Jennings for Delaware attorney general. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“Kathy Jennings has unmatched experience defending public safety, protecting communities, and taking on anyone who tries to take advantage of Delaware families. After serving as Delaware’s state prosecutor and chief deputy attorney general, Kathy is more than ready to tackle the top challenges facing Delaware’s families, including President Trump’s disastrous agenda, gun violence, and the opioid epidemic. EMILYs List is proud to stand with Kathy in her campaign for attorney general.”

The granddaughter of a World War II Marine veteran who was raised by a single mother in Wilmington, Kathy Jennings graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and the University of Delaware before receiving her law degree from Villanova University Law School. Kathy then became one of only two women in the Wilmington office of the Delaware Department of Justice’s Criminal Division where she prosecuted hundreds of cases involving homicide, domestic violence, and sexual assault. Kathy was then named state prosecutor and chief deputy attorney general. After her years in public service, Kathy co-founded the Oberly and Jennings law firm where she has since focused on civil litigation, criminal defense, and white collar crime.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Since the 2016 election, thousands of women and counting have reached out to us about running for office. To harness this energy, EMILYs List has launched Run to Win, an unprecedented effort to get more women to run at the local, state, and national levels.
