EMILYs List Endorses Kate Schroder in Ohio’s 1st Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Kate Schroder in Ohio’s 1st Congressional District. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“The people of Ohio deserve a leader like Kate Schroder, and EMILYs List is proud to support her. Kate is a fifth generation Cincinnati resident who has dedicated her career to serving others. A cancer survivor and health care advocate, she understands the pitfalls of the health care system and will fight to increase accessibility and quality of care for all. EMILY’s list is confident that Kate will work across the aisle in Washington to champion the issues that are most important to Ohio’s 1st Congressional District, and we are proud to stand with her.”

Kate is a health care advocate, cancer survivor, problem solver, and mom running for Congress to fight for Ohio working families. A fifth-generation Cincinnatian, she was raised in a family of medical professionals who taught her that service to others is a core value. Kate earned her bachelor’s degree at Indiana University, and she went on to work for former Senator Evan Bayh in Washington, D.C. and then for a member of the Cincinnati City Council. She received her MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 2004 and joined the Advisory Board Company as a health care researcher and consultant. Kate served as the Zambia country director for the Clinton Health Access Initiative for two years, and launched programs in pediatric HIV, lab services, and human resources for health. Upon returning to the U.S., she has managed global programs in children’s health, published her results in academic journals, and most recently served as vice president of the Clinton Health Access Initiative. Kate was appointed to the Cincinnati Board of Health in 2016 and currently serves as finance chair. Kate and her husband John are the proud parents of two young children, and they live in the neighborhood  of Clifton in Cincinnati, Ohio.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 150 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,100 women to state and local office. Nearly 40 percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. During the historic 2017-2018 cycle, EMILYs List raised a record-breaking $110 million and launched a record independent expenditure campaign. We helped elect 34 new women to the House, including 24 red-to-blue victories; enough seats to have delivered the U.S. House majority alone. Since the 2016 election, more than 50,000 women have reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state and national offices.
