EMILYs List Endorses Judge Susan Crawford for Wisconsin State Supreme Court
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Judge Susan Crawford for the Wisconsin state Supreme Court. Since the fall of Roe v. Wade, the battle to protect abortion access across the nation has become an urgent priority in states now more than ever. Each day that passes with reproductive freedom hanging in the balance, women’s lives remain at risk and state Supreme Courts play a vital role protecting abortion access and protecting our voting and civil rights. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“EMILYs List is proud to endorse Judge Susan Crawford for the Wisconsin state Supreme Court. Judge Crawford has the experience of a former prosecutor and a judge to ensure the rights and fundamental freedoms of Wisconsinites are protected. As the fight continues to protect abortion access across the nation, it is imperative that we elect fair and impartial judges to state supreme courts. We are thrilled to support her in this election and look forward to holding the majority on the bench.”
Judge Susan Crawford is currently a Dane County Circuit Court judge. Judge Crawford’s career began as an assistant attorney general with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, where she prosecuted hundreds of tough cases, holding criminals accountable and enforcing our laws. She worked in several leadership positions at multiple state agencies and was named chief legal counsel to the governor. Following her tenure in state government, Judge Crawford became a private practice attorney, where she protected voting and workers’ rights, and represented Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin to defend access to reproductive health care.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Over nearly 40 years, EMILYs List has raised nearly $950 million to help Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the most impactful independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 192 women to the House, 29 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,600 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
