EMILYs List Endorses Jamie Cheney for Congress

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Jamie Cheney for election to represent New York’s 19th Congressional District. EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:
 
“Jamie Cheney is the leader we can count on to fight for our rights in New York’s 19th Congressional District. She recently shared her own abortion story, illustrating just how crucial it is to protect the freedom to make personal medical decisions with one’s family and one’s doctor without government interference. EMILYs List is proud to stand with Cheney. We know that her commitment to protecting abortion access, serving working families, and ending the epidemic of gun violence in our country will only deepen as the 19th Congressional District’s next representative.”
 
Jamie Cheney is a successful business owner and reproductive rights advocate running to represent New York’s 19th Congressional District. The daughter of a veteran, Cheney’s parents instilled in her the value of public service and civic responsibility from a young age. After seeing firsthand the struggles women faced in the workplace balancing demands of work and family, Cheney founded Prokanga, a business focused on creating flexible roles for working parents. “NY-19 needs a leader who will not tolerate inaction on the climate or guns and someone who intuitively understands the deep damage we are doing to women's lives and will champion real change before we damage a generation,” Cheney has said. “You deserve a representative who understands what we are facing, so let me say it plainly: I refuse to let this country go backwards. Together, we will win this election and make this district a place we are all proud to call home.” Cheney lives on her New York family farm with her husband and their three sons.
