EMILYs List Endorses Hillary O’Connor Mueri in Ohio’s 14th Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Hillary O’Connor Mueri in Ohio’s 14th Congressional District. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“Hillary O’Connor Mueri is a fearless public servant and EMILYs List is thrilled to stand with her campaign to turn Ohio’s 14th Congressional District blue. A Navy veteran who was part of one of the first generations of women flight officers trained to fly in combat, Hillary knows how to win tough fights. She is a formidable lawyer and champion for middle class families who will voice the interests that matter most to Ohioans in Congress. Earlier this cycle, EMILYs List placed Hillary’s opponent, incumbent GOP Rep. Dave Joyce, “On Notice” for voting against equal pay and reproductive freedom for women. We look forward to helping Hillary flip this seat in November.”

Hillary O’Connor Mueri is a U.S. Navy veteran who served as a flight officer and an attorney. After studying aviation engineering at The Ohio State University, Hillary realized she didn’t want to just design fighter aircrafts — she wanted to fly them. She went on to become a Naval flight officer. As part of the first generation of women flight officers trained to fly in combat, Hillary flew 12 combat missions over Iraq. After her military service, Hillary married her husband, Simon, earned her law degree, and was hired by one of the nation’s biggest law firms. Hillary took on pro bono work on behalf of women survivors of domestic abuse, and, to continue her outstanding career of service, stepped up to run for the first time to give hardworking northeastern Ohio families a new voice in Congress.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 150 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,100 women to state and local office. Nearly 40 percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. During the historic 2017-2018 cycle, EMILYs List raised a record-breaking $110 million and launched a record independent expenditure campaign. We helped elect 34 new women to the House, including 24 red-to-blue victories; enough seats to have delivered the U.S. House majority alone. Since the 2016 election, more than 55,000 women have reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state, and national offices.
