EMILYs List Endorses Five More Women Leaders for California Down-Ballot Offices

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed five more women leaders for California down-ballot offices. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“EMILYs List is proud to endorse five more women leaders for down-ballot offices in Southern California. These educators, attorneys, and activists are leading voices for progress, bringing the issues of affordable housing, implicit bias, and economic development to the forefront of the conversation within their communities. At EMILYs List, we believe that the bravest thing a woman can do in a democracy is put her name on the ballot, and we are thrilled to stand with these courageous women as they campaign for more inclusive and equitable policies. We look forward to electing more diverse pro-choice Democratic women like them to local and legislative offices this November.”

EMILYs List endorsed the following women:
Sydney Kamlager (AD-54)
Farrah Khan (Mayor of Irvine)
Lauren Johnson-Norris (Irvine City Council)
Tammy Kim (Irvine City Council)
Terra Lawson-Remer (San Diego County Board of Supervisors, District 3)

These endorsements are in addition to 20 women EMILYs List has already endorsed in California: Ann Ravel (SD-15), Monique Limón (SD-19), Abigail Medina (SD-23), Kathy Miller (AD-13), Rebecca Bauer-Kahan (AD-16), Dawn Addis (AD-35), Jacqui Irwin (AD-44), Eloise Gómez Reyes (AD-47), Sabrina Cervantes (AD-60), Sharon Quirk-Silva (AD-65), Melissa Fox (AD-68), Diedre Thu-Ha Nguyen (AD-72), Cottie Petrie-Norris (AD-74), Tasha Boerner Horvath (AD-76), Mai Vang (Sacramento City Council, District 8), Nora Vargas (San Diego County Board of Supervisors, District 1), Marni von Wilpert (San Diego City Council, District 5), Mara Elliott (San Diego City Attorney), Rhodesia Ransom (San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors, District 5), and Holly Mitchell (Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, District 2).

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $600 million to elect pro-choice Democratic women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 150 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,100 women to state and local office. Nearly 40 percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. During the historic 2017-2018 cycle, EMILYs List raised a record-breaking $110 million and launched a record independent expenditure campaign. We helped elect 34 new women to the House, including 24 red-to-blue victories; enough seats to have delivered the U.S. House majority alone. Since the 2016 election, more than 50,000 women have reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state, and national offices.
