EMILYs List Endorses Attorney General Kathy Jennings and State Treasurer Colleen C. Davis for Reelection in Delaware

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorses Kathy Jennings for reelection as Delaware attorney general and Colleen C. Davis for reelection as state treasurer. EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:

“EMILYs List is proud to endorse Attorney General Kathy Jennings and State Treasurer Colleen C. Davis for reelection in Delaware. Amid nationwide attacks on abortion access, we are thrilled to stand with these pro-choice champions as they continue fighting for justice and equity for Delawareans and their neighbors. We’re eager to see these distinguished leaders continue advocating for their state with courage and integrity.”

The granddaughter of a World War II Marine veteran who was raised by a single mother in Wilmington, Kathy Jennings graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and the University of Delaware before receiving her law degree from Villanova University Law School. Jennings then became one of only two women in the Wilmington office of the Delaware Department of Justice’s Criminal Division where she prosecuted cases involving homicide, domestic violence, and sexual assault. Jennings was then named state prosecutor and chief deputy attorney general. After her years in public service, Kathy co-founded the Oberly and Jennings law firm where she focused on civil litigation, criminal defense, and white-collar crime. Jennings was first elected Delaware attorney general in 2018.

Colleen C. Davis was first elected state treasurer in 2018. She has since focused on three main priorities: “bolstering retirement security and readiness, creating pathways to economic empowerment, and promoting a culture of financial excellence.” Davis serves as the eastern region vice president on the National Association of State Treasurers, where she also chairs the Banking and Cash Committee. She also sits on the executive board of the College Savings Plans Network and is a member of the Market Transparency Advisory Group of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised over $700 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure campaigns for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country's first woman as vice president, 159 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and nearly 1,400 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
