EMILYs List Endorses Antonetta Stancu for Bucks County District Attorney

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Antonetta Stancu for Bucks County, PA district attorney. Emily Cain, executive director of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“The EMILYs List community is thrilled to endorse Antonetta Stancu for Bucks County district attorney. Throughout her career, Antonetta has served as a criminal defense lawyer, the Bucks County assistant district attorney, the Bronx County assistant district attorney, and as an assistant U.S. attorney. We are confident that as district attorney, Antonetta will use her vast experience in the legal field and dedication to the people of Bucks County to address mental health, combat the opioid epidemic, reduce gun violence, and improve the criminal justice system. Her steadfast and proven commitment to justice for all makes Antonetta the clear choice for Bucks County district attorney.”

The daughter of immigrants, Antonetta could speak only Romanian on her first day of kindergarten – the language her parents spoke at home. She was the first in her family to finish high school, the first to graduate from college, and the first to go to law school.  She earned a BA at Lehigh University and studied law at Hofstra University’s Maurice A. Dean School of Law. While at Hofstra, Antonetta was admitted to the school’s summer program where she studied comparative constitutional law under Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg at a university in France. She began her career in Bronx County, NY, before serving as an assistant U.S. attorney in President Obama’s administration. In 2011, Antonetta returned home to Pennsylvania and spent the next eight years serving as an assistant district attorney in Bucks County. Antonetta is currently a partner in Schatz & Stancu, where she fights for the rights of those accused of crimes.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $700 million to elect Democratic pro-choice women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running nearly $50 million in independent expenditures in the last cycle alone, and turning out women voters and voters of color to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country's first woman as vice president, 157 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and more than 1,300 women to state and local office. More than 40 percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. After the 2016 election, more than 60,000 women reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state, and national offices. In our effort to elect more women in offices across the country, we have created our Run to Win program, expanded our training program, including a Training Center online, and trained thousands of women.
