EMILY's List Endorses Ann Groves Lloyd for Wisconsin's 42nd Assembly District in Special Election

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Ann Groves Lloyd in the special election for Wisconsin’s 42nd Assembly District. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“Ann Groves Lloyd is a leader in her community who stepped up to run in Wisconsin after Governor Walker left this seat vacant and her community without a voice for the current legislative session.  As an alderperson on the Lodi Common Council and Director of Career Services for the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ann has proven her dedication to bringing quality education and opportunity to the people she represents. If elected, Ann would flip a crucial Wisconsin state Assembly seat from red to blue. Ann is committed to progressive values and understands the needs of the people of Wisconsin — EMILYs List is proud to stand with her.”

Progressive leadership runs in Ann Groves Lloyd’s family with her grandfather and great-uncle both having served in the state government. Ann earned her B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her commitment to education stems from nearly three decades of experience as an academic adviser, career services director, and associate dean at the university.  Ann and her husband, Ron, currently live in Lodi, WI, where her family has had a farm for 150 years.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Since the 2016 election, thousands of women and counting have reached out to us about running for office. To harness this energy, EMILYs List has launched Run to Win, an unprecedented effort to get more women to run at the local, state, and national levels.
