FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Allyson Muñiz Damikolas for election to California’s 40th Congressional District. EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:

“EMILYs List is proud to endorse Allyson Muñiz Damikolas because California’s 40th Congressional District deserves better than a representative who consistently votes against their most basic freedoms. Muñiz Damikolas has been a strong and outspoken advocate for education, reproductive rights, and gun safety reform, and has proven herself to be a leader in her community who can deliver results. We know she has what it takes to fight Republican anti-choice extremism in Congress, and we are honored to be able to support her candidacy.”

Allyson Muñiz Damikolas is an engineer and proud local school board member running to represent California’s 40th Congressional District. She grew up in Southern California and, after graduating with a degree in chemical engineering, worked for an environmental consulting firm. When her two daughters were diagnosed with a life-threatening health condition, she fought to get them the health care and education they needed. This advocacy inspired her to begin serving her community in her local public school system, first as PTO president and currently as the vice president of the Tustin Unified School Board. On the board, she has been a critical voice for school safety, accessibility, and ensuring that all students, teachers, and families are supported with the resources they need to thrive.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
