EMILYs List Congratulates Senator Tammy Baldwin on Her Re-Election Victory for U.S. Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulated EMILYs List candidate Senator Tammy Baldwin on being re-elected to represent Wisconsin in the U.S. Senate. Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“Senator Baldwin is a trailblazer with a proven track record for Wisconsin. Throughout her life, Tammy watched her mother battle addiction so when the opioid epidemic hit Wisconsin, she took it personally. Ever since, she has been fighting to ensure that her state has the resources it needs to tackle this issue head on. She made history in 2012 when she became the first openly LGBTQ person elected to the U.S. Senate, and she continues to break down barriers today as a progressive champion for affordable higher education, good-paying jobs, quality health care, and gender pay equity. EMILYs List has stood with Senator Baldwin for years and we are proud to congratulate her on another well-deserved election victory.”

Women Vote, EMILY's List's independent expenditure arm, partnered with allies at the independent expenditure table investing more than $500,000, including a contribution to VoteVets for a TV campaign.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $500 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making them one of the most successful political organizations ever. Our grassroots community of over five million members helps Democratic women wage competitive campaigns – and win. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research the issues that impact women and families, and turn out women voters. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect 116 women to the House, 23 to the Senate, 12 governors, and over 800 to state and local office. Forty percent of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Since the 2016 election, thousands of women and counting have reached out to us about running for office. To harness this energy, EMILYs List has launched Run to Win, an unprecedented effort to get more women to run at the local, state, and national levels.
