FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulates Rep. Dina Titus on her reelection to Nevada’s 1st Congressional District. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“Rep. Dina Titus is a fearless leader who remains dedicated to improving the lives of all Nevadans. EMILYs List is thrilled to congratulate her on her reelection because we know that she will continue to fight for gun safety, job creation, America’s natural resources, and our reproductive freedoms. She has proven time after time that she has Nevadans’ backs, and that is why her constituents consistently trust her to represent them in Congress. We look forward to watching her continue to accomplish all that she can for Nevadans and the American people.”
Rep. Dina Titus is the dean of Nevada’s congressional delegation. As a professor, Dr. Titus taught American and Nevada government classes from 1979 to 2011 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where she holds professor emeritus status. She is an accomplished non-fiction writer known for her expertise in the history and policies related to nuclear power, weaponry, and waste. Rep. Titus was elected to the Nevada state Senate in 1988 and served as the Democratic minority leader from 1993 to 2008. She was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in November 2008. Rep. Titus and her husband, UNLV Professor Emeritus Thomas C. Wright, a Latin American historian, have been married for over 40 years and live in Las Vegas.
EMILYs List supported each of Titus’ campaigns from 2004 to 2012 and again in 2022.
EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
