EMILY's List Congratulates Jen Jordan on Advancing to the General Election for Georgia Attorney General

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulated Jen Jordan on advancing to the general election for Georgia attorney general. Laphonza Butler, president of EMILYs List, released the following statement:

“EMILYs List congratulates state Sen. Jen Jordan on winning the Democratic primary for attorney general of Georgia. Jordan has practiced law for over 20 years and represented her community in the state Senate since 2017, so we know that she is ready to fight for the people of Georgia as their attorney general. Jordan has long been a vocal advocate for reproductive freedom, stepping up to fight back against Republican attacks on abortion access in Georgia while she served in the general assembly. We are proud to stand with this pro-choice champion in her efforts to advance justice across Georgia.”

State Sen. Jen Jordan is a lawyer and mother of two who currently represents parts of Fulton and Cobb Counties in the Georgia state Senate. Raised in Dodge County, Sen. Jordan is a lifelong Georgian, who attended public school in the state, then the Georgia Southern University for her undergraduate studies, and finally the University of Georgia for law school. After graduating, Sen. Jordan served as a federal law clerk to United States District Court Judge Anthony Alaimo and has been actively practicing law for the last 20 years. For the last decade, Sen. Jordan has owned her own law firm and is consistently recognized as one of the top attorneys in the state. In 2017, Sen. Jordan won a special election flipping a Republican-held seat in the Georgia state Senate and ending the GOP’s super-majority in that legislative body. She was reelected in 2018 and 2020. If elected, Jordan would make history as the first woman elected as attorney general of Georgia.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $700 million to elect Democratic pro-choice women candidates. With a grassroots community of over five million members, EMILY's List helps Democratic women win competitive campaigns – across the country and up and down the ballot – by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running nearly $50 million in independent expenditures in the last cycle alone, and turning out women voters and voters of color to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country's first woman as vice president, 159 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 16 governors, and more than 1,300 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. After the 2016 election, more than 60,000 women reached out to EMILY's List about running for office laying the groundwork for the next decade of candidates for local, state, and national offices. In our effort to elect more women in offices across the country, we have created our Run to Win program, expanded our training program, including a Training Center online, and trained thousands of women.
