WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulates Holly J. Mitchell and Janice Hahn on their reelection to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“EMILYs List is honored to congratulate these two Democratic pro-choice champions on their reelection to the offices they have served so faithfully. Mitchell and Hahn have been strong advocates for their communities and have delivered results for Southern Californians time and time again. We are proud to see these leaders shine and thrilled that Los Angelenos have once again put their faith in them.”

Holly J. Mitchell is a third-generation Angeleno and former state representative for California’s 54th Assembly District and 30th Senate District. During her time in the state legislature, Mitchell was the first African American to serve as chair of the Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee and helped California pass the CROWN Act, the first anti-hair discrimination law in the country. Mitchell was elected to the first all-women Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in 2020, and also serves on the boards of Los Angeles County Children and Families First (First 5 Los Angeles), Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission, L.A. Care Health Plan, and Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts.

Janice Hahn was born and raised in Los Angeles and has been passionate about serving her community for her entire life. Hahn was first elected to office to represent the 15th District on the Los Angeles Charter Reform Commission, where she served from 1997 to 1999. Hahn then served on the Los Angeles City Council from 2001 to 2011 and as a member of Congress from 2011 to 2016. She was elected to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in 2016 and served as the board’s chair from 2022 to late 2023. As a member of the Board of Supervisors, Hahn has focused on investing in care for Southern Californians who are in need of affordable health care, mental health support, economic resources, and affordable housing.
