FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, congratulates Daniella Levine Cava on her reelection victory as mayor of Miami-Dade County. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“EMILYs List congratulates Daniella Levine Cava on her reelection as mayor of Miami-Dade County. She has worked to better the lives of Miami-Dade County residents by making historic housing investments, creating reliable transportation options, and supporting small businesses. Levine Cava is a staunch supporter of reproductive freedoms and will continue to speak out against the extreme restrictions in Florida. We look forward to witnessing the work she will continue to do for her constituents.”

Daniella Levine Cava became Miami-Dade County’s first woman mayor in history when she was elected in 2020. She has an impressive record serving the people of Miami-Dade County in both the nonprofit and public sectors. During her time as mayor, Levine Cava’s administration has focused on preventing gun violence, reinvigorating the economy, supporting local businesses, and protecting the area’s natural resources. She has been a strong and vocal supporter of reproductive rights during Florida’s crisis of abortion access. Before she was elected mayor, Levine Cava served on the Miami-Dade County Commission and was an attorney with Legal Services of Greater Miami. She is the recipient of several prestigious awards from various organizations, including the ACLU, the National Council of Jewish Women, the American Society for Public Administration, and the Red Cross. Levine Cava has lived in South Florida for nearly 40 years and has two children with her husband, Robert.

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, works to elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot and across the country with a goal of fighting for our rights and our communities. Our work is centered around a fundamental vision: Run. Win. Change the World. EMILYs List has raised $850 million in service to that vision and has helped Democratic women win competitive elections by recruiting and training candidates, supporting and helping build strong campaigns, researching the issues that impact women and families, running one of the largest independent expenditure operations for Democrats, and turning out women voters to the polls. Since our founding in 1985, we have helped elect the country’s first woman as vice president, 175 women to the House, 26 to the Senate, 20 governors, and over 1,500 women to state and local office. More than 40% of the candidates EMILYs List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color. Visit www.emilyslist.org for more information.
