EMILYs List Endorses Illinois Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton in the U.S. Senate Race

October 3, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Illinois Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton in the Illinois U.S. Senate race. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“Juliana Stratton is a bold leader who throughout her time in public service has taken on tough fights and worked to make life easier for Illinoisans. At a time of unprecedented Republican recklessness in Washington, Juliana will be a fierce advocate for the people of Illinois, standing up to Donald Trump and working to level the playing field for families. EMILYs List is proud to endorse Juliana and excited to work to elect her to be the next U.S. senator from Illinois.”

No stranger to tough fights, Juliana first took office by defeating a seven-term entrenched incumbent state legislator in 2016 – running on a platform of support for child care, labor, and home care long before this gained national traction. As Lt. Gov., she fought to raise wages, lower prescription drug costs, relieve medical debt for thousands of families, and invest in education from early childhood programs to public schools.

Juliana has been a strong advocate for reproductive rights throughout her entire career. As a state legislator she led the fight for H.B. 40, a bill that ensured Illinois women would have access to abortion care regardless of the insurance coverage they had, and as lieutenant governor she worked with Illinois lawmakers to pass the landmark Reproductive Health Act, which enshrined abortion access into state law.

Juliana’s priorities are rooted in her own experiences – as a mother, a lifelong public servant, and a daughter who served as primary caretaker for her mother during her battle with Alzheimer’s – that’s why she’s focused on policies that will uplift Illinois’ working and middle class families: making life more affordable, creating and expanding economic opportunities, and protecting our rights and freedoms. In the United States Senate she’ll work every day to make life easier for Illinoisans and to make sure no one is left behind.
