WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following Mayor Vi Lyles’ victory in the Charlotte mayoral primary, EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

“EMILYs List congratulates Mayor Vi Lyles on a decisive win. Throughout her nearly 40 year public service career, Mayor Lyles has dedicated herself to delivering real results for residents of the Queen City — expanding public transportation, securing funding for affordable housing, and investing in safer communities. We are thrilled to continue supporting Mayor Lyles’ reelection, and we look forward to electing her to another term in November.” 

Mayor Vi Lyles currently serves as the mayor of Charlotte. As mayor, she has a track record of delivering stability and big wins for the city of Charlotte. Mayor Lyles has secured $150 million towards affordable housing projects and was instrumental in the robust expansion of the Charlotte Area Transit System. She prides herself in prioritizing bipartisan wins to better serve her constituents. EMILYs List has proudly supported Mayor Lyles in previous mayoral elections, and if reelected, she will become the second longest serving mayor of Charlotte.
