Women Vote! Launches Program Educating Texas Voters On Gina Ortiz Jones’s Record
January 6, 2018
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List’s voter mobilization and education project, Women Vote, announces a direct mail program to help educate Texas voters on Gina Ortiz Jones’s background and her desire for Americans to have quality healthcare.
Gina Ortiz Jones cared for her mother who had cancer and knows that quality health care saved her mother’s life. Ortiz Jones will fight to get everyone quality care. That is why she supports a single-payer health care system, like Medicare for All, that gets insurance companies out of the way and lowers the cost of health care.
The 11-piece mail will focus on this single narrative, highlighting that Gina grew up in San Antonio, served in the Air Force, including a tour in Iraq, and came home to Texas to care for her mother. Targets for this program are voters who voted in the 2016 Democratic Primary (March 1 – Pres primary) AND at least one other Dem primary since 2008. The universe is 41,870 voters in 32,760 households.
The eleven pieces of mail will drop on the following dates: 1/16, 1/18, 1/23, 1/25, 1/31, 2/6, 2/8, 2/14, 2/20, 2/22, and 2/28.
Women Vote is EMILYs List’s independent expenditure arm which works to educate and mobilize women voters on behalf of pro-choice Democratic women candidates, and help turnout voters for Democrats up and down the ballot. Launched in 1995, the EMILY's List Women Vote project combines polling and research, sophisticated message testing, the latest innovations in data and technology as well as good old-fashioned voter contact to mobilize millions of women voters across the country.
